Youth Empowerment Grant
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is an action-education program sponsored by the Catholic Bishops of the United States. Since its inception, CCHD has funded projects throughout the country which aim to attack the basic causes of poverty and empower the poor. Funds are allocated on a non-denominational basis. You need not be a Catholic group to apply. The Youth Empowerment Grant is designed to educate youth as to the empowering possibilities of CCHD and educate them about social justice.
Every year, the Baltimore chapter of CCHD awards up to $5,000 in grant money to a youth project that seeks to change or attack the basic causes of poverty. Your group/school/club must focus on an issue that you feel is unjust and unfair in our society, resulting in some people being poor and powerless. You can use grant money to advocate for these people, or to change the structure that result in the injustice.
In order to qualify for CCCD grant money, you must team up with an established non-profit organization that is already working on the concern that you have. Someone from the established group can serve as an advisor/mentor to your group/school/club.
